Job summary

NiSource invites applications for a Summer IT - Software Engineer Intern position. The program spans 12 weeks, starting May 2027, with opportunities to learn within a team and contribute to enterprise IT projects in Columbus, OH or Merrillville, IN. Residency within 50 miles is required.

You will engage in architecture, services, infrastructure, security, and applications work while building professional relationships and gaining practical experience in data analytics and software development.

Qualifications

Pursuing a degree in data science, CS, CE, statistics or math.
GPA 3.0 or higher.
Completed at least one year of undergraduate study.
Experience with cloud, software development, data analytics, automation, or enterprise technologies.
Keen attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Self-discipline for planning and organizing tasks.
Passionate about data.
History of learning new technology quickly.
Solid skills with computers, OS, mobile devices and software (MS Office, MS Project).
Excellent analytical abilities including root-cause analysis.
Ability to work 40 hours per week.
Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Support IT architecture, IT services, infrastructure, IT security and applications teams.
Assist in business analytics and data-driven projects.
Collaborate with interns and NiSource staff on tasks and projects.
Participate in professional development exercises and team-building activities.
Contribute to enterprise technology initiatives and reporting.
