Job summary

NiSource is seeking a Summer Engineering Generation Intern for a 12-week program starting May 2027, based in Wheatfield, IN or Michigan City, IN. Applicants must reside within 50 miles of the location and be US-authorized.

The role offers hands-on experience in power generation, engineering support, and project coordination while learning within a team environment and engaging in professional development activities.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a four-year degree in the listed fields.
• Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study.
• Ability to work 40 hrs/week onsite during the summer.
• GPA 3.0 or above.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must have a valid driver's license at hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with permits, job orders, materials procurement and invoicing.
• Maintain and monitor project files for accuracy and completeness.
• Support planning, estimating, scheduling, risk analysis, land agreements and reimbursements.
• Assist with bid packets and contractor selection for projects.
• Manage projects per codes and standards and coordinate with NiSource teams.
• Compliance Training
• Support maintenance of NERC/CIP systems and related software.
