Job summary

NiSource invites applications for a Summer Engineering Intern in Terre Haute, IN. The 12-week program begins in May 2027, open to students entering their junior or senior year in fall 2027.

You will work under engineering staff, gaining hands-on experience with electric and gas facilities while building professional relationships within NiSource. Applicants must live within 50 miles of Terre Haute, and be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Current student enrolled in an ABET-accredited four-year engineering program.
• Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study.
• Ability to work 40 hrs/week.
• Proficiency with PC applications; strong skills with AutoCad and MS Excel & Access.
• Proven communication skills.
• Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Assist and learn under guidance of engineering staff on projects meeting utility facility needs.
• Evaluate, design, estimate, and provide project management for electric and gas facilities of varying complexity.
• Create job order sketches using AutoCad.
• Collect/analyze data and assemble data to create job order estimates.
• Perform field measurements.
• Maintain safety consciousness in all tasks.
