Job summary

Blue Origin seeks an experienced structural engineer to own the design, analysis, development, testing, and qualification of structural subsystems for the New Glenn second stage and payload accommodations. You will lead manufacturability initiatives, perform design reviews, and provide guidance to junior engineers to ensure safe, repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities include production support, test readiness reviews, and collaboration across design, manufacturing, test, and mission

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in engineering with 5–8+ years of aerospace structures experience.
  • Experience with metallic aerospace hardware and full lifecycle.
  • Hands-on experience on shop floor, integration, or field operations.
  • Proficiency with GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and CAD/CAE tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to influence decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Design and configuration of pressurized and unpressurized launch vehicle structures, including interfaces and mission accommodations.
  • Lead detailed design: 3D models, drawings, assemblies, and interface control documents.
  • Plan and perform structural sizing using hand calculations and FEA; coordinate with analysts.
  • Resolve hardware discrepancies; disposition nonconformances; support MRB and investigations.
  • Develop structural test plans and procedures for development, qualification, and acceptance tests.
