Work hours are 4:30 PM to 3:30 AM on a four-day schedule with weekend work; benefits and campus culture accompany this role, with a starting hourly salary of about $17.52.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in large-scale food preparation.
  • Knowledge of health hazards in food preparation.
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Successful completion of a department-sponsored food safety training program within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a wide variety of meats, fowl, fish, and vegetables for lunch and dinner.
  • Prepare breakfast dishes including eggs, bacon, hot cereals, stews, soufflés, and similar dishes.
  • Operate standard cooking equipment such as mixers, steam cookers, toasters, choppers, refrigerators, ovens, and stoves.
  • Supervise and assist in kitchen cleaning, storage, and lead workers in food preparation.
  • Complete computerized production sheets in a neat and timely manner.
  • Perform related work as assigned by management.
