Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. seeks a Field Service Engineer to support ultra-short pulse laser systems and related equipment across North America. Primary focus on lasers, amplifier systems, and high-tech production systems with travel to customer sites; strong troubleshooting and customer-facing skills needed.

The role requires installation, maintenance, technical guidance, and collaboration with customers and factory teams. Eastern Time Zone preferred with extensive field travel and training duties.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree and/or applicable Certification are preferred.
• 3+ years of related practical experience including experience with lasers and laser systems
• Exceptional troubleshooting skills with new electrical, mechanical and optical systems
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to assume new tasks and responsibilities, self-manage, and schedule working time with minimal supervision
• High degree of proficiency in PC skills including MS office, SAP, and data analysis applications
• Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites across North America during normal business weeks.

Responsibilities

• System installation, diagnose and repair of ultra short pulse laser systems, optical alignment and installation and troubleshooting of electromechanical subassemblies.
• Maintain operational functionality of scientific and industrial laser equipment.
• Instruct customers in the operation and maintenance of the system.
• Serves as company interface with customer and factory on administrative and technical matters.
• Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.
• Other duties may be assigned and could include shift, weekend and on-call coverage.
• USA and International travel is a requirement for customer support and for training on our products.
