Job summary

nLIGHT, a leader in high-power semiconductors and fiber lasers, seeks a Field Service Technician to provide on-site support and primarily travel across North America. The role includes repair, testing, calibration of laser systems, and coordination with engineering and service teams.

The position requires lifting up to 50 lbs, and frequent travel, with a focus on maintaining safety and quality in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in a high-volume production environment with electronics, semiconductor equipment, or opto-mechanical assemblies.
• Able to read basic electrical schematics.
• Experienced with test equipment including oscilloscope, curve tracer and DVM.
• Knowledge of electrical power and safety.
• Proficient with Excel and Word.
• Ability to wear Safety Laser Goggles to perform duties.
• Good communication skills.
• Organized and neat.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair laser systems and associated components.
• Document in detail all repair activities.
• Write failure analysis reports.
• Track and analyze repair data to identify improvement opportunities and new or unusual failure modes.
• Provide feedback to Technical Support, Customer Service, and Engineering on product and process improvements.
• Manage returns in and out of the repair center; track wait time, repair time, and total turnaround time.
• Demonstrate dedication to safety of yourself and others.
• Provide support for RMA repair activities during periods of reduced workload.
