The Department of Recreation is seeking a Landscape & Maintenance Technician. This position executes general landscape and maintenance roles for indoor and outdoor recreation department spaces. The technician ensures that parking lots, walkways, and plant beds are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice in assigned areas. The role is responsible for completing routinely and situationally assigned basic maintenance work orders. Work is routinely assigned and monitored at the task level.
Cultivate landscape and outdoor environments through weed pulling, mulching, leaf removal, mowing, weed eating, blowing, aerating, overseeding, fertilizing, grading, sodding, pruning, watering, planting trees and shrubs, installing ground cover, and placing stakes and guywire.
Trimming of edges, islands, and hardtoreach areas of facilities.
Blowing sidewalks and hardscape following mowing periods.
Pruning and trimming of trees and shrubs.
Mulching, weed pulling, and manual removal.
Leaf removal.
Storm debris cleanup.
Pressure washing.
Athletic field, turf, court, and fence maintenance and repairs.
Transporting equipment, tools, or supplies.
Lowlevel painting and drywall work.
Replace, maintain, and repair athletic equipment.
Minor tile and caulking repairs.
Outdoor seating and sign repairs.
Identify needs for equipment repair and initiate maintenance.
Respond to weather conditions on grounds by making walking areas accessible for pedestrians with snow and ice removal.
Perform assignments related to special events and projects.
Perform all work in accordance with safety rules and procedures, such as OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license.
Anticipated hourly rate $18.00 $20.00.

Licensure: Valid driver's license.
This job will require standing, traveling, and lifting above and below the waist various weights which may include different landscape equipment and materials. The use of both hands and a repetitive motion will be required while pruning, driving, weeding, and pushing lawn mowers.
