The Facilities Management (FM) Landscape Services department is seeking a Landscape Turf Supervisor to join their team! Each Supervisor responsible for a designated Maintenance Zone ensuring service and quality standards meet the level called for by our Landscape Management Plan. This is accomplished by overseeing the day-to‑day activities of their team through efficient coordination of staff assignments, continuous inspections, and scheduling corrective and renewal projects with other members of the department. This position supports Facilities Management's goal of providing consistent, cost effective, and reliable maintenance and service to University Grounds.
Landscape Supervisors develop and sustain positive working relationships through tactful and constructive in‑person and written communication skills. As part of the management team, Supervisors must be proficient technology users, able to navigate essential UVA systems and email on a computer, tablet, and/or smart phone.
UVA FM’s Landscape Services department is tasked with maintaining nearly 1,200 total acres of Grounds with over 300 being intensely managed space. Responsibilities include care of elaborate botanical gardens, thousands of trees, multiple storm water ponds and basins, large areas of turf, collecting litter and supporting countless University events to just name a few. The overarching task for the department is ensuring that the Grounds of the University are safe, and healthy using sustainable landscape management practices.
Facilities Management supports the University of Virginia's wide range of academic, research, and patient care programs. With nearly 1,200 employees, Facilities Management incorporates the values of respect, integrity, stewardship, and collaboration into its service operations and internal programs. The organization is dedicated to service excellence and is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair, and maintenance of UVA's buildings, infrastructure, and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties.
This job will require standing, traveling, and lifting above and below the waist various weights which may include different landscape equipment and materials. The use of both hands and repetitive motion will be required while pruning, driving, weeding, and pushing lawn mowers.
The anticipated hiring range is $26.00–$29.00, commensurate with education and experience.
