Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate heavy machinery at a recycling center, landfill or transfer station, and to transfer, spread, load and compact waste or soil efficiently.

The role emphasizes equipment inspections, maintenance coordination, and strict adherence to safety policies while maintaining a clean, organized work area and reporting any repairs or issues promptly.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Ability to adhere to company safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment per policy; operate equipment (forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader) safely.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste in materials.
• Monitor equipment condition to minimize downtime and clean tracks or wheels as needed.
• Perform and document minor service on equipment; refer complex issues to Maintenance Shop for repair.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and report necessary repairs to supervisor.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures; keep shop clean and organized after each shift.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
