Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operator - Heavy Equipment to safely run diverse machinery at our recycling center, landfill or transfer station. The role focuses on transferring, spreading, covering, loading and compacting waste or soil with emphasis on safety and efficiency.

You will perform inspections, operate equipment, monitor waste quality, and document routine maintenance. The position requires adherence to OSHA standards and a strong commitment to timely, reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of equipment to ensure readiness and safety.
• Safely operate equipment such as forklift, excavator, bulldozer, and front-end loader per standards.
• Monitor waste and equipment condition to minimize downtime and ensure efficient operations.
• Perform minor maintenance and document equipment service; report major issues.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other required documentation; communicate repairs.
• Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean, organized shop after each shift.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
