Job summary

Republic Services seeks an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate heavy machinery at recycling centers, landfills or transfer stations. You will transfer, spread, cover, load and compact waste or soil while adhering to safety standards and company policies.

The role requires hands-on experience operating equipment such as forklifts, excavators and bulldozers, along with a commitment to maintaining equipment and reporting issues promptly. A strong safety mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Two years of related heavy equipment operation experience.
• One year of experience at sites regulated by OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspections per policy; ensure windows, lights, mirrors and cameras are clean.
• Safely operate equipment including forklift, excavator, bulldozer and front-end loader.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials.
• Perform minor equipment service and refer major issues to Maintenance Shop.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and report repairs to supervisor.
• Follow all required safety policies and keep the shop clean and organized after shifts.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
