Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate backhoes, forklifts, graders, tractors and loaders at our Westbrook landfill. The role covers transferring, spreading, covering, loading, and compacting waste or soil with strict adherence to safety standards.

In addition to operating equipment, you will assist with site maintenance, perform inspections, and monitor for hazardous waste while contributing to team objectives and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Two years of heavy equipment operation preferred.
Ability to work safely in a landfill environment.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Operate heavy equipment safely for transferring, spreading, covering, loading and compacting waste or soil.
Perform pre/post operation inspections and report safety issues.
Assist with site upkeep and litter removal.
Monitor equipment condition and perform minor servicing as needed.
Follow all safety policies and participate in training opportunities.
