Job summary

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator at our landfill to safely operate backhoes, loaders, graders, and other equipment to move waste and soil, performing pre/post inspections and adhering to safety standards.

The role requires teamwork, reliability in all weather, and a willingness to participate in ongoing training; the position offers a competitive hourly wage and opportunities to advance along defined career paths.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and two years of prior heavy equipment operation preferred.
• Must be self-directed, able to work in a team, and legally eligible to work in the US.
• Proven commitment to safety and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment (backhoes, forklifts, graders, tractors, front-end loaders) safely at the landfill.
• Perform pre/post operation inspections and address safety equipment issues.
• Monitor waste for hazardous materials and keep equipment in good working order.
• Assist with maintenance, troubleshoot minor issues, and communicate needs to the shop.
• Follow all safety policies and participate in training to support the company goals.
