Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operator - Heavy Equipment to safely operate heavy machinery at recycling centers, landfills, or transfer stations. Responsibilities include pre/post inspections, efficient material handling, and adherence to safety policies to ensure safe and productive shifts.

The role requires operation of equipment like forklift, excavator, bulldozer and loader, with focus on minimizing downtime and maintaining equipment readiness.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior heavy equipment operation experience.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Commitment to safety policies and procedures.
• Professional and courteous interaction with customers and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection to ensure equipment is clean and ready.
• Safely operate equipment such as forklift, excavator, bulldozer, and front-end loader following safety standards.
• Monitor waste for unacceptable materials and maintain safe operation.
• Perform minor servicing and document it; refer major repairs to Maintenance Shop.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and report any needed repairs to supervisor.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Keep shop clean, serviced and stored after each shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
