Job summary

Bohler's Charlotte, NC office is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) for Summer 2027. You will gain hands-on experience with site design from concept to construction, working alongside engineers, designers, and project managers on commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments.

You will develop skills in AutoCAD Civil 3D and support permitting activities while contributing to real-world projects in a collaborative, mentorship-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems Engineering, or a related field.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• A self-starter attitude with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred; training provided if not yet proficient).
• Curiosity and motivation to learn within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Interest in civil site design, land development, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Experience day-to-day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm.
• Learn the stages of the land development and site design process.
• Hands-on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design concept plans and grading plans.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to drive projects forward.
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
• Visit sites to observe field conditions and see the engineering process in action.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to design and process improvements.
