Job summary

IU Health in Bloomington is seeking a Lactation Consultant I to deliver expert infant feeding support across inpatient and outpatient settings. You will develop individualized plans, educate families, and promote breastfeeding and maternal health as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires clinical expertise, strong communication, and the ability to work independently while maintaining compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

IBCLC certification required within 12 months of hire.
BLS certification required within 1 month of hire or upon orientation.
Experience with childbearing families or maternal health nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive breastfeeding and infant feeding support to inpatient and outpatient families.
Develop, market, and implement individualized lactation plans.
Educate patients and families about breastfeeding techniques, benefits, and challenges.
Increase awareness of the lactation program through educational initiatives and outreach.
Develop educational materials tailored to various audiences.
Collaborate with healthcare teams to promote best practices in maternal and infant care.
Maintain accurate documentation of services provided.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with lactation practices and certifications.
