Job summary

Indiana University Health in Bloomington Hospital is seeking a Lactation Consultant I to provide comprehensive infant feeding services in inpatient and outpatient settings. You will develop lactation plans, educate families on breastfeeding techniques, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote maternal and infant health.

Qualifications include IBCLC certification within 1 year of hire and BLS within 1 month.

Qualifications

• IBLCE IBCLC certification must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• BLS certification required within 1 month of hire or upon orientation completion.
• Experience with childbearing families or maternal health nursing is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide breastfeeding and infant feeding support to inpatient and outpatient families.
• Develop, market, and implement individualized lactation plans.
• Educate patients and families on breastfeeding techniques and benefits.
• Increase awareness of the lactation program through education and outreach.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to promote best practices in maternal and infant care.
• Maintain accurate documentation of services.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in lactation practices.
