Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Medical Technologist/MLS/HTL to perform bench duties across specialties, develop QA policies, and ensure safe, efficient lab operations in a high-volume environment. You will monitor safety, participate in inspections, and provide technical consultation to clients.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field, ASCP BOC certification, and at least two years of instrument operator experience, with strong organizational and communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or Histotechnology.
• ASCP BOC certification or equivalent required.
• Typically requires 2 years of instrument key operator experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform bench duties in the specialty as determined by site needs and implement QA policies.
• Develop and implement quality control and quality assurance procedures.
• Monitor safety practices, workflow, maintenance, and regulatory compliance; participate in inspections.
• Provide technical expertise and consultation to internal/external clients.
• Review laboratory results and QA for accuracy; document QA information.
• Assist Supervisor with scheduling, timecards, and attendance functions.
• Assist in staff development including competency coaching and training.
• Utilize laboratory information systems and computer tools appropriately.
• Contribute to improving procedures and write/update technical procedures and policies.
• Provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
