Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking a Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist to perform, evaluate, and monitor laboratory tests within established protocols. The role includes calibration, maintenance, and repair of instruments, as well as QA/QC activities and proficiency testing.

You will train staff and students and ensure proper specimen labeling and handling across age groups. Candidates should have ASCP or AMT-related credentials, a Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory sciences or

Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences required.
Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Medical Technology or related field required.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests as authorized within established protocols, selecting and performing additional procedures when indicated.
Evaluates results for clinical significance, validity and appropriateness.
Performs, documents and reviews calibration, maintenance and repair of instruments and equipment.
Performs, documents and reviews quality control and quality assurance for improvement according to established protocol.
Ascertains that specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing.
Provides direction and training to laboratory staff and students.
Assists in improving the quality and efficiency of laboratory procedures, policies, and processes.
Performs internal and external proficiency testing.
