Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform, evaluate, and monitor laboratory tests according to established protocols. You will monitor workflow, adjust as needed, and report results with attention to clinical significance for newborn to adult patients.

Responsibilities include calibration and maintenance of instruments, quality control reviews, proficiency testing, and providing training to staff.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests within established protocols.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and reports/test notification.
• Performs calibration, maintenance and repair of instruments and equipment.
• Performs quality control and quality assurance per protocol; takes corrective action when indicated.
• Labels and collects specimens from newborn to adult patients.
• Provides training and guidance to technicians and staff.
• Improves quality and efficiency of procedures, ensuring CAP compliance.
• Performs proficiency testing and supports transfusion services and other specialties.
• Provides timely laboratory results to critical care departments during high acuity events.
• Demonstrates care appropriate to the age of patients served.
