Job summary

TriCore, New Mexico’s largest laboratory, seeks a Laboratory Scientist to perform waived, moderate, or high complexity tests at Presbyterian Hospital. The role includes maintenance of equipment, quality control, and QA documentation, with opportunities to train staff and support POCT oversight.

The candidate must meet CLIA-based qualifications for Lab Scientist I–III and contribute to a team delivering accurate diagnostics and patient care across shifts at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological or chemical science (or equivalent physical sciences through 2024).
• Associate degree in laboratory science (biology/chemistry) or medical laboratory technology.
• Education and training equivalent to an associate degree including required science courses.
• Previously qualified or could have qualified as a technologist under CLIA regulations on or before 28 February 1992.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived, moderate, or high complexity laboratory tests under supervision.
• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair laboratory equipment; run quality control testing.
• Document QC/QA procedures and monitor trends; take corrective actions as directed.
• Train new staff or students and liaise with internal/external customers.
• Participate in POCT oversight and determine appropriate training and validation steps.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in biological, or chemical science

Associate’s degree in laboratory science (biology or chemistry) or medical laboratory technology

60 semester hours with required science coursework

Qualified as technologist under CLIA on/before Feb 28, 1992
