Job summary

The Laboratory Assistant (Non Phlebotomist) at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital assists licensed staff in preanalytical processes of collection, accessioning and preparation of samples for testing, and supports post-analytical reporting of results to customers.

He/she may assist higher level licensed personnel and provides clerical and laboratory assistant support across the laboratory. Strong organization, customer service and communication skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Req High School or equivalent.
• Pref Associate’s Degree 2 years college level courses preferred.
• Req 1 year Prior experience in a hospital Laboratory setting (or equivalent).
• Pref 1 year Pathology Laboratory experience preferred.
• Pref 1 year secretarial/administrative assistant experience preferred.
• Req Organization/time management skills.
• Req Excellent customer service behavior.
• Req Verbal and written communication skills.
• Req Type 60 WPM, familiar with computers and word processing software.

Responsibilities

• Assists licensed staff in preanalytical processes of collection, accessioning and preparation of samples for testing.
• Assists post-analytically in reporting test results to customers.
• Provide clerical and laboratory assistant support to the laboratory as a whole.
