Job summary

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent.
• Graduate from an accredited Phlebotomy Program.
• 1 year experience in Phlebotomy (acute care setting preferred).
• Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician – CPT (CA DPH).
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) or obtainable within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood samples by venipuncture or capillary methods as requested.
• Screen specimens for acceptability per guidelines.
• Deliver blood products and surgical specimens to appropriate sections.
• Process, distribute, or package all specimens received.
• Handle inquiries about lab results and specimen status.
• Communicate with patients, staff, and guests professionally.
• Adhere to hospital and department policies.
• Perform additional clerical and clinical duties as needed.
• Participate in Quality Improvement activities.
