Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC seeks a Laboratory Assistant - Pre-Analytics for per diem, 8-hour rotating shifts. The role focuses on procuring blood samples, preserving specimen integrity, and preparing samples for testing, with clerical duties and patient communication as part of daily tasks.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, CPT certification, and at least 1 year of phlebotomy experience, plus strong MS Office skills and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate from an accredited Phlebotomy Program.
• 1 year phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician - CPT (CA DPH) preferred.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) required or obtained within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood samples by venipuncture or capillary methods.
• Receive and screen specimens per guidelines.
• Deliver blood products and surgical specimens as needed.
• Process, package, and distribute specimens as required.
• Handle inquiries about lab results and specimen status.
• Communicate professionally with patients and staff.
