Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a laboratory supervisor to coordinate and oversee testing under the direction of the Laboratory Director/Manager. You will lead staff, ensure quality and regulatory compliance, and support education for team members across Anatomical Pathology & Clinical Pathology domains.

The role involves budget awareness, collaboration with clinicians, and mentoring students, with opportunities to drive process improvements within AHN laboratories.

Qualifications

• Cytology: Cytotechnologist (CT) ASCP certification
• Cytogenetics: Cytogenetics (CG) ASCP certification
• Histology: Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histotechnician (HT) ASCP certification
• Surgical Pathology/Gross Room: Pathologists’ Assistant (PA) ASCP certification
• Clinical Pathology: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) or MLS ASCP certification
• Cytogenetics: Cytogenetics (CG) ASCP certification

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and supervises testing activities under Laboratory Director/Manager direction.
• Identifies and resolves issues to optimize laboratory operations, adhering to policies and regulations.
• Selects, develops, and motivates staff; supervises, assesses, and disciplines as needed.
• Acts as a consultant to laboratory personnel and other health care providers; supports education and growth.
• Prepares budgets and manages expenses and salaries within approved budgets.
• May perform routine and complex procedures to provide accurate clinical information.
• Mentors students and new employees per AHN policies.
• Acts as a liaison to facilitate communication between AHN laboratories.

Education

BS in Medical Technology or Life Sciences with 3 years prior laboratory experience
