Job summary

Allegheny Health Network in Natrona Heights, PA, seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist to independently perform routine and highly complex analyses on clinical specimens across the laboratory. You will assist management with daily operations and ensure quality clinical information.

Responsibilities include verifying test methods, maintaining instrumentation, serving as a consultant, mentoring staff and students, and potentially supervising in the absence of the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in ASCP eligible program and ongoing education requirements for certification.
• MLS/MT or ASCP certification within one year of hire.
• 3 to 5 years of clinical laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and highly complex laboratory analyses on clinical specimens.
• Verifies analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and linearity for test methods.
• Operates, calibrates, maintains instrumentation and troubleshoots QC issues.
• Provides consultation to laboratory staff and other health care providers; participates in continuing education.
• May collect and process patient specimens within lab policies and time frames.
• Mentors MT/MLT, phlebotomy, and lab processor students and new hires.
• Communicates needs to manager/supervisor for efficient operations.
• Assumes supervisory duties in the absence of the supervisor.

Education

Bachelor's degree in ASCP eligible program
