Job summary

The University of Michigan's Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor is seeking an Allied Health Associate Supr to lead pathology laboratory operations and supervise staff in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities include overseeing ordering, reporting, staff scheduling, and process improvements while ensuring adherence to CAP and CLIA standards. The role emphasizes staff development, safety, and quality assurance within the department.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a related health science field or equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum of 5 years of direct supervisory experience.
  • Six years of clinical laboratory experience in a university setting, knowledgeable of CAP and CLIA standards and familiar with LEAN concepts involving process improvement.
  • Requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, hand pipetting for extended periods of time and the ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Demonstrated management experience of professional and support staff in a CLIA Clinical Lab setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative supervision of qualified personnel performing ordering, verifying, and reporting of laboratory and sendout tests.
  • Schedule employees to provide adequate and equitable staffing in all areas.
  • Supervise and coordinate daily operational activities.
  • Monitor and update workflow to achieve maximum productivity and quality.
  • Coordinate, Implement and participate in monitoring the laboratory Quality Assurance Program.
  • Work with Lab Manager to evaluate and recommend changes to the department including equipment, supplies, and staffing.
  • This full time, 40 hour position is on the day shift and may require rotating weekends, holidays and on-call.
