Job summary

Qualifications

• MLA (ASCP): Medical Laboratory Assistant credential is required or equivalent experience within 12 months of hire.
• High School Diploma or equivalent and combinations outlined by ASCP must be met.
• Six months experience in a clinical or microbiology laboratory and/or one year handling biological specimens preferred.
• Credential: MLA (ASCP): Medical Laboratory Assistant

Responsibilities

• Supports waived testing and result reporting.
• Prepares tissue specimens for histology/cytology and inputs data into LIS.
• Prepares urine specimens and loads analyzers; monitors inventory and waste.
• Prepares slides for microbiology study; plates specimens on media; assists with inventory.
• Registers patients and enters data into LIS/HIS.
• Adheres to laboratory policies, protects patient confidentiality, and follows registration procedures.
