Job summary

The Administrative Supervisor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine provides full administrative support to the Chief of Pathology, pathologists, and the laboratory leadership team. They coordinate daily operations, supervise transcriptionists, and assist in developing department policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree Required; Bachelor's Degree Preferred. Minimum 1 to 3 Years of previous healthcare office environment experience. Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains Chief’s calendar and assists Pathologists and Lab leadership team with arranging meetings, conferences, and travel arrangements.
• Establishes procedures to ensure efficient workflow, processing, and maintains professional standards which ensure proficiency, technical expertise and accuracy.
• Performs supervisory responsibilities such as budget preparation and monitoring of department expenses, hiring, interviewing, conducting performance evaluations, providing disciplinary action, scheduling, assigning work activities and recommending salary increases.
• Performs office functions, including receiving visitors, handling telephone calls, processing mail and maintaining department files.
• Composes and types a wide variety of correspondence as well as assembles statistical data such as workload recording. Attends meetings and takes, prepares, and distributes minutes to appropriate personnel.
• Performs transcription of surgical pathology reports as needed.
• Preserves department confidentiality as well as protects employee and patient rights to confidentiality.
• Sends out slides and reports to various outside locations upon request.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.
