Job summary

McLeod Health is seeking an experienced laboratory leader to oversee development and execution of goals within the laboratory department. You will collaborate with supervisory staff, pathologists, and hospital administration to ensure smooth operation and achievement of targets.

You will participate in budget planning, manage inventory, and lead quality control programs in compliance with regulations. Ongoing education and continual improvement are emphasized, with responsibility for staff

Qualifications

• Five years of job-related experience.
• Certification or substantial equivalent laboratory experience.
• Minimum of a Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
• Minimum of an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology with 30 years of laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development of long- and short-range goals and objectives with supervisory staff, Pathologists, and Hospital Administration.
• Participate in budget preparation; monitor revenue, expenditures, and inventory; purchase equipment and supplies.
• Oversee development and implementation of quality control programs in the laboratory, ensuring regulatory compliance and quality improvement.
• Maintain knowledge of current trends through continuing education and present information for laboratory operations.
• Review quality control, proficiency results, patient results, and method comparisons; identify and correct issues.
• Assess laboratory readiness for inspections by applicable regulatory agencies.
• Assist with competency program to ensure policy and accrediting requirements are followed.
• Demonstrate leadership and commitment to the quality management system and promote process thinking and improvement.
• Other duties as assigned.
