Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Laboratory Manager to oversee diagnostic methods and testing personnel across assigned laboratories and offsite locations. You will ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures and regulatory standards while supporting the Laboratory Director and Service Center leaders to meet system-wide goals.

The role emphasizes budgeting, staff development, quality assurance, and collaboration with clinicians.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent
• Advanced degree in Management / Business Administration preferred
• Six years of experience in laboratory operations, including supervisory or leadership capacity preferred
• Experience in a clinical laboratory environment preferred
• Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: New York license preferred for NY locations; ASCP certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Oversee diagnostic methods and testing personnel across laboratories and locations.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures and regulations.
• Develop short- and long-term goals for assigned divisions and create plans.
• Provide training and documentation for regulatory and accrediting agencies.
• Monitor key performance indicators and promote continuous quality improvement.
