Job summary

UVA Health Haymarket Medical Center seeks an experienced Laboratory Manager to oversee the UVA Community Health laboratory, ensuring quality testing, fiscal targets, and staffing targets are met through established standards.

The role requires leading team members, managing supplies and expenses, and ensuring accreditation compliance. On-call responsibilities may apply; emphasis on staff education, performance indicators, and collaboration with the Medical Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related field.
• 5-7 years of relevant laboratory tech/leadership experience preferred.
• ASCP or AMT-MT certification required (BB, C, CG, CT, H, HTL, MT/MLS, M, MB).

Responsibilities

• Oversee UVA CH laboratory operations to meet quality testing and budget targets.
• Lead staff huddles, meetings and rounds; manage staffing and FTE expense.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and accreditation standards (CAP/CLIA).
• Educate and develop team members; maintain competency documentation.
• Collaborate with Medical Director to improve testing services across pre-, intra-, and post-analytic processes.
