Job summary

Penn Medicine seeks an experienced laboratory supervisor to manage daily technical and administrative functions of one or more laboratory sections. The role ensures compliance with policies, maintains procedures, and oversees personnel and fiscal matters.

Responsibilities include supervising test systems, QA/QC programs, proficiency testing, and collaboration with clinical researchers for trials while driving efficiency and safety within the lab.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree (Required) with education specialization in Biological and Chemical Sciences or related healthcare field.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred for higher supervisory responsibilities; related healthcare field ok.
• Must meet general supervisor requirements under CLIA-88.
• Additional education or training in Management or Lab Management is desirable.
• 5+ years clinical lab experience; 5+ years if Bachelor's degree, 7+ years if Associate's degree.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily technical and administrative functions of the section(s).
• Evaluate and implement technical procedures based on clinical and financial parameters.
• Oversee quality control and proficiency testing programs and regulatory compliance.
• Lead staffing, budgeting, and inventory within approved budgets.
• Mentor staff, conduct performance reviews, and ensure safety and training compliance.
• Partner with clinicians and researchers to enable lab services for trials and projects.
