Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated is seeking a Laboratory Manager to oversee planning, coordination, and supervision of all technical and operational activities in the laboratory. The role emphasizes quality, safety, integrity, and efficient businesslike operation.

The position includes directing staff, ensuring QA procedures, managing budgets, and coordinating R&D efforts while liaising with other departments and committees. Strong supervisory experience and an FL license are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years laboratory experience with at least 4 years of direct supervisory experience in clinical or anatomical pathology.
• Bachelor’s Degree Life sciences (Required).
• Master’s Degree (Preferred).
• FL State License in specific disciplines at the supervisory level (Required).

Responsibilities

• Plans, assigns, and directs work in the laboratory and serves as liaison with other areas.
• Mentors and supports direct reports, ensuring supervisory skill development and training.
• Defines, coordinates, and monitors quality assurance programs and supervises QA staff.
• Oversees staffing, hiring, training, and staff development through performance evaluations.
• Identifies future staffing, equipment, and facility needs and submits procurement docs.
• Reviews test performance, drives process and project management, and reports deadlines.
• Manages test database and ensures SOPs reflect current processes.
• Coordinates R&D activities related to operations and participates on committees.
• Develops annual budget and manages department costs to meet budget.
• Resolves problems via client communication and oversees safety programs.
