Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Laboratory Manager in Tampa, FL to oversee planning, coordination, and supervision of laboratory activities. The role emphasizes high-quality, safe, and efficient operations with a focus on cost effectiveness and integrity.

The incumbent will lead staff, supervise QA, manage budgets, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate R&D and safety programs. A strong background in clinical or anatomical pathology labs is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years laboratory experience with at least 4 years of direct supervisory experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree Life sciences (Required)
• Master’s Degree (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Plans, assigns, and directs work in the laboratory; liaises with other areas as needed.
• Mentors and supports direct reports; provides supervisory skill development training.
• Defines, coordinates, and monitors quality assurance programs and supervises QC procedures.
• Oversees staffing with interviewing, hiring, training, and staff development.
• Identifies future staffing, equipment, and facility needs; submits procurement requests.
• Reviews test performance, drives process and project management, and reports on deadlines.
• Manages test databases and ensures SOPs reflect current processes.
• Coordinates R&D activities related to operations and participates on committees as needed.
• Develops annual budget and manages department costs and resources.
• Resolves problems through client communication; coordinates safety programs and inspections.
