Job summary

TriCore Reference Laboratories is seeking a Laboratory Scientist Lead at Presbyterian Hospital in New Mexico. The role requires leadership, extensive lab experience, and the ability to coordinate across shifts to maintain high patient care standards.

You will supervise, train staff, ensure QC/QA, and liaise with pathologists and management while preparing for inspections and maintaining clear communications across departments.

Qualifications

• Two years as Laboratory Scientist II at TriCore or equivalent experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science, medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited Institution, AND two years direct clinical laboratory experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in biology or chemistry from an accredited institution AND four years’ direct clinical laboratory experience.
• US military medical laboratory training plus degree and experience as specified.
• Associate’s degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology with four years direct clinical laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform all functions of a Laboratory Scientist II.
• Prioritize tasks to ensure efficiency and accuracy in technical and support areas.
• Serve as shift supervisor as needed and direct workflow.
• Assist staff with questions and problem solving.
• Ensure adequate staffing for workload during shifts.
• Participate in training of new employees and students.
• Participate in QC/QA tracking and resolve problems.
• Oversee quality control checks of equipment and instruments.
• Assist in inspections preparation (CAP, safety inspections).
• Consult with pathologists and management on technical issues.
