Job summary

TriCore, New Mexico’s largest laboratory, is hiring a Clinical Lab Assistant at Presbyterian Hospital. The role requires the ability to work independently, manage multiple modalities, and maintain essential on-call coverage. Candidates may start at an apprenticeship level if training is needed.

Regular in-person attendance and adherence to confidentiality, safety, and quality standards are essential. A strong foundation in phlebotomy and patient care is preferred.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Demonstrated schooling or laboratory experience to be hired at Level 1 or higher.
• Apprenticeship option available for applicants with minimal experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties in a professional and courteous manner.
• Maintains supplies and inventory for departmental functions.
• Mentors students/new staff as needed.
• Exhibits problem solving to ensure patient care and service levels.
• Assists with hospital communications and on-call responsibilities by location.
• Demonstrates effective telephone and verbal communication skills.
• Exercises professional judgment with clients, patients and teammates.
• Handles clerical tasks including documentation of critical communications.
• Maintains confidentiality of information.
• Participates in on-call coverage and holiday/weekend shifts as needed.
• Performs department clerical and support tasks such as case organization and material retrieval.
