Edward-Elmhurst Health in Evanston is seeking a Laboratory Assistant II for the Core Lab. This full-time role supports test ordering in LIS/HIS, specimen processing, receipt and scanning of samples, and delivery for in-house or reference lab testing.

The position emphasizes accurate data entry, specimen tracking, and packaging, with Monday–Friday 8:00 am–4:30 pm shifts, plus weekends rotated holidays. A high school diploma is required; relevant healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 1 year of experience in a comparable healthcare setting for external candidates.
• LIS/HIS data entry experience preferred.
• Laboratory, medical and data entry skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Order tests into the Laboratory Information System (LIS/HIS) and document lab receipt of specimens.
• Process various laboratory specimens and prepare them for testing.
• Receive and scan patient samples into LIS/HIS; perform centrifugation, aliquoting and delivery of specimens.
• Perform specimen tracking, packaging and entry of orders and results into the system.
