Job summary

University of Utah Health Hospitals and Clinics seeks a Surgical Technician to support Labor & Delivery and OB Emergency Services in Salt Lake City. You will assist with clinical care, prepare the OR, and work under licensed staff to ensure patient safety and smooth procedures.

Responsibilities include assisting with cesarean sections, postpartum care, phlebotomy, room and equipment readiness, and serving as the first assist for surgeons. Multilingual candidates welcomed.

Qualifications

• Completion of in-house surgical technician training within six (6) weeks of hire.
• And one of the following: MA program, Advanced EMT certification, or Paramedic certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Reports observed concerns to licensed staff.
• Performs CLIA Waved Lab tests when identified and reports results.
• Assists with sutures, catheterization and injections.
• Acts as chaperone for health care providers during examinations.
• Monitors and cleans examination rooms and equipment.
• Answers calls, schedules appointments and tests.
• Assists in postpartum hemorrhage and OR preparation for emergencies.
• Assists with all operating room procedures including cesarean sections.
