Job summary

University of California - Los Angeles Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to support surgical procedures in the scrub role, preparing and setting up instrumentation and supplies for cases while assisting with patient care. The role includes back-up administrative coverage and EHR-related tasks as needed.

Requirements include accredited Surgical Tech program completion, Surgical Tech certification, and BLS. At least 1 year of experience is required; OB/GYN and trauma experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Tech Program.
• Surgical Tech certification required.
• BLS certification from Red Cross or American Heart Association required.
• 1 year of experience as Surgical Tech required.
• Previous OB/GYN and trauma surgery experience preferred.
• Knowledge of operating room equipment and aseptic technique.
• Understanding of surgical procedures and terminology.
• Ability to set priorities and respond to emergencies under nurse supervision.
• Ability to move heavy carts and handle equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Scrub role in preparing and setting up instrumentation and supplies for each surgical case.
• Provide technical support for all surgical procedures and assist with patient preparation.
• Provide back-up administrative coverage for the unit as needed (phones, call lights, admissions in EHR).
