Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) seeks a Registered Nurse for Labor and Delivery on a per diem schedule. The role emphasizes delivering high-quality nursing care to a diverse patient population within a quality-improvement focused team.

Candidates should hold MA RN licensure with a Diploma/ASN/BSN, BLS/ACLS/NRP, AWHONN EFM cert, and at least 2 years of L&D experience. EHR experience preferred; strong communication and physical stamina are essential.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice professional nursing as an RN in Massachusetts.
• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), BSN within 4 years available
• BLS, ACLS, NRP certifications
• AWHONN EFM Intermediate/Advanced Certification
• 2 years' experience in Labor and Delivery
• Experience with electronic health record preferred
• Strong communication skills
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
• Basic computer proficiency
• Multilingual abilities are a plus

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional nursing care in Labor & Delivery, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and education.
• Communicate with health care team members, patients, and families.
• Coordinate and delegate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues.
• Update and manage patient records.
• Enter and interpret computerized data/information.
• Follow BMCHS nursing guidelines and policies.

Position: Registered Nurse

Location: Labor & Delivery

Schedule: Per Diem

Registered Nurses in Labor and Delivery provide the highest quality of care to our diverse patient population. Our L&D team has a strong quality improvement focus and our nurses are always developing unique solutions for their patients.

Job Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional nursing care in the, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients


• Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and families


• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues


• Update and manage patient records


• Enter and interpret computerized data/information


• Follow guidelines and policies established by the BMCHS nursing organization


• Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects

Job Requirements

• Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.


• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years


• Certification in basic life support (BLS)


• Advanced Cardiac Life support(ACLS)


• Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification


• Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Intermediate or Advance Certification


• 2 years' experience Labor and Delivery


• Experience with electronic health record preferred


• Effective verbal and written communication skills


• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.


• Basic computer proficiency.


• Fluency in another language a plus.

Compensation Range

$39.80- $93.69

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
