Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) in Boston, MA is seeking a Registered Nurse for Labor and Delivery on a per diem schedule. The RN will provide patient-centered care across antepartum to L&D triage, with a Magnet-recognized team focused on quality improvement.

The role requires MA RN licensure, BLS, ACLS in certain units, and a nursing degree (Diploma/ASN/BSN, with BSN pursued within 4 years). Strong communication and computer skills are essential, with bilingual abilities a plus.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in Massachusetts (Commonwealth).
• 1+ years RN experience preferred.
• BLS certification; ACLS required in certain units.
• Nursing degree: Diploma/ASN/BSN (preferred); BSN within 4 years encouraged.
• Strong verbal and written communication; basic computer proficiency.
• Fluency in another language a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in Labor & Delivery including assessment, diagnosis, plan, intervene, evaluate, and educate.

ABOUT THE MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH/LABOR & DELIVERY DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER:

Registered Nurses in Labor and Delivery work across the unit from antepartum to within the Labor and Delivery triage Unit in order to provide the highest quality of care to our diverse patient population. As a Magnet recognized organization, our L&D team has a strong quality improvement focus and our nurses are always developing unique solutions for their patients.

Position Summary

As an RN in the Maternal Child Health Department, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

Job Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care in the Labor & Delivery Department, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
• Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
• Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
• Update and manage patient records
• Enter and interpret computerized data/information
• Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization
• Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects

Job Requirements

• Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• 1+ years of RN experience preferred
• Certification in basic life support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification required in certain units
• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
• Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
• Basic computer proficiency
• Fluency in another language a plus

Compensation Range

NursingMCH - Maternal Child Health/Mother Baby/Labor and Delivery

$38.05- $75.33

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
