Job summary

OU Health is seeking an entry-level Surgical Technician I for Labor & Delivery to assist in operating room procedures and ensure sterile technique. You will work under supervision to prepare rooms, scrub in, arrange instruments, and support the surgical team throughout the perioperative process.

The role emphasizes maintaining sterile conditions, assisting with specimen handling, and supporting anesthesia and nursing staff as needed in a busy labor and delivery unit.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school/program for Surgical Technology is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association is required.
• Certification preferred: CST or TS-C from NBSTSA/NCCT.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating room per physician’s cards and maintain sterile field.
• Scrub in and set up instruments and supplies for procedures.
• Deliver medications to the surgeon and assist in counts.
• Maintain instrument availability and assist with specimen handling.
• Assist with patient transport and post-operative instrument processing.
• Monitor sterile technique and communicate potential issues to staff.
