UTMB Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to perform direct and indirect technical tasks before, during, and after surgical interventions. You will assist in procedures under supervision to ensure a safe operating room environment and proper instrumentation for patient safety.

Responsibilities include instrument prep, sterile technique, assisting with positioning, draping, counts, and postoperative dressings, while meeting certification and Basic Life Support requirements.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technologist Program required.
• Current certification as a Surgical Technologist or obtain within 6 months of employment.
• BLS certification required.

Responsabilités

• Checks supplies and equipment for the surgical procedure.
• Scrubs in the prescribed manner and dons sterile gown and gloves.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
• Assist in positioning, skin preparation and draping of patient.
• Passes instruments required during surgery to the surgeon.
• Maintains sterile technique during the procedure.
• Assists with postoperative dressings.
• Assists circulator or scrub person in all specialties.
• Prepares surgical instruments for sterilization and maintains tray inventory.
