Job summary

Frederick Health seeks a Surgical Technician I OB to assist in the Operating Room under supervision, with growth toward independent practice and evolving knowledge of standards and physician preferences for safe patient care.

The role supports the FH mission and compliance program while contributing to equipment readiness, sterile technique, and intraoperative support per surgeon needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program with eligibility to sit for the certification exam within 1 year.
• Current CPR certification.
• C.N.A preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the treatment and care of patients in the Operating Room under supervision.
• Supports growth toward independent performance of Surgical Technician duties.
• Prepares for cases according to physician preferences.
• Maintains sterile field and corrects infractions of sterile technique.
• Assists with delegated circulating duties under RN supervision.
• Orients new personnel to Surgical Technician responsibilities.
• Acts as second scrub under the surgeon and supports instrument handling.
• Ensures room readiness and proper setup/ turnover of surgical cases.
• Participates in quality improvement and data collection activities.
• Promotes department morale and retention efforts.
