Job summary

BMC Berkeley Medical Center is seeking an experienced Nursing Manager to lead labor and delivery operations and oversee nursing staff. The role requires a current RN license, BLS within 30 days, and at least four years of nursing experience with two years in management.

The manager will advise on staffing, recruitment, budgets, education programs and performance evaluations, while promoting high-quality patient care and a positive unit culture. 40-hour weeks with exempt status.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of practice and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; specialty certification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Advises the Director on staff hiring, retention, interviewing and recruitment.
• Initiates and maintains personnel records for staff.
• Develops and implements ongoing educational programs for staff and new employees.
• Provides ongoing feedback on performance and conducts evaluations.
• Monitors and justifies personnel and budget variances; supports cost-effective operations.
• Plans and recommends annual budgets for the cost center.
• Ensures efficient staffing and optimal patient care through workflow analysis.
• Communicates with physicians, nurses and other staff to resolve issues.
• Promotes customer satisfaction and a constructive unit culture.
• Serves as a resource to quality improvement teams; participates in staff meetings and training.
• Oversees staff orientation and ongoing education; supports new equipment/system training.
