The Position
Our client, a large producer and distributor of branded food products, is seeking an experienced Labor and Employment Attorney to help with some overflow work. This attorney should have a general employment law background, with experience handling California specific matters as well as both union and non-union environments. Responsibilities would include, but are not limited to: reviewing and advising on employee relations issues, disciplinary matters, policies and procedures, grievances, and settlement agreements. The client is looking for someone who can step in and contribute immediately, with minimal oversight or training. In-house experience is a must, and while litigation experience would be a plus, it's not required.
The ideal candidate is someone who takes initiative, works well in ambiguity, and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves to get the job done. They should be collaborative, function as a business partner to the HR team, and build strong working relationships. A curious mindset is important, someone who is comfortable asking questions and thinking critically rather than accepting things at face value.
ASAP start, 15-20 hours/week, with a 6 month duration. This is a fully remote role and the candidate can be based anywhere in the U.S. as long as they're available to support Pacific Coast hours.
The hourly rate for this assignment is expected to be between $108 and $115. This range is an estimate; an employee’s compensation will be based on the employee’s qualifications, skillset, and relevant experience, specific client needs, project requirements, and other considerations permitted by law.
