Job summary

UES is seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician I to support geotechnical, construction materials testing, and environmental projects in Georgia. The role involves preparing samples, operating testing equipment, and documenting results to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.

You will follow standardized procedures, maintain lab organization, and work with engineers and field staff to provide timely test data for infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical coursework in engineering, geology, construction science, or related field preferred.
• 0-3 years of experience in construction materials testing, geotechnical laboratory work, or related field; prior lab experience preferred but not required.
• Commitment to workplace safety and PPE.
• Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and FDC software preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret procedures, manuals, and reports related to construction materials testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory testing on construction materials following ASTM, AASHTO, and other applicable industry standards to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Accurately document and report test results, maintaining detailed, organized, and error-free records.
• Assist with sample preparation, handling, and proper storage, ensuring sample integrity and traceability.
• Operate laboratory testing equipment.
• Follow strict safety protocols and laboratory procedures, including PPE usage.
• Communicate effectively with lab supervisors, engineers, and field personnel about test results and sample status.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the lab team.
