Job summary

UES is seeking a Laboratory Technician to evaluate and test construction materials across projects in the region. You will perform soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate testing, operate lab equipment, and manage samples under the direction of engineers and project teams.

The role emphasizes accuracy in data, collaboration with field personnel, and adherence to safety protocols in a laboratory/warehouse setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical coursework in engineering, geology, construction science, or a related field preferred.
• 0-3 years of experience in construction materials testing, geotechnical laboratory work, or a related field (prior lab experience preferred but not required).
• Commitment to workplace safety, following OSHA, company, and laboratory safety protocols, including PPE.
• Basic computer proficiency, with experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Field Data Collection software preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret procedures, manuals, technical documents, and reports related to construction materials testing and laboratory protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing on soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and other construction materials.
• Operate testing equipment and learn industry-standard testing procedures.
• Prepare, organize, and track project samples throughout the testing process.
• Record and communicate test results with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field technicians on a variety of projects.
• Support quality assurance efforts that help ensure safe and successful construction outcomes.
• Contribute to a safety-focused and team-oriented work environment.
